The mission of the political science discipline is to produce graduates with a critical mind, requisite ability and skill to analyse, comprehend, predict and influence the factors that shape and mould power relationships in an ever-changing socio-political environment in a globalized world.
Objectives
1. To provide training in the principles of political science and their application to type of degree programme concerned – political economy, public administration or international relations.
2. To stimulate the students intellectually to appreciate the nature of societal problems as being diverse and multi-faceted.
3. To provide a solid foundation of knowledge about the workings of societies and its institutions and develop the skill for the constructive use of such knowledge.
4. To develop in the student, the ability to apply knowledge for conflicts and social problems resolution.
5. To develop in students, skills and competence that allows them to be self-reliant and enterprising.
6. To provide the students with adequate methods and skills for researching and analyzing society.
7. To provide the students with the intellectual skill, methods and analytical mind that will enable them to proceed for higher studies in other disciplines and political science.
8. To imbibe in the students a deep appreciation of the political dynamics of society and its impacts on the wider socio-economic development and social well-being.

The Department of Political Science offers three first degree course programmes and they are
1. B.Sc. in Political Science
2. B.Sc. in Public Administration
3. B.Sc. in International Relations and Strategic Studies
