Confraternity members would be expelled, Rector tells students

During the matriculation ceremony of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, (in Ogun State) held on Thursday, January 18, 2018; The Rector; Olusegun Aluko, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Adewale Ajayi, has warned students of the school to not join secret cults on campus or face the possibility of dismissal from the institution if caught.

He assured the students that no one could pressure them into joining any unlawful fraternity, and admonished them to report to the institution’s Directorate of Student Affairs if harassed by anyone. Unlike some institutions of higher education where both the VC and Dean of Student Affairs are cultist, this polytechnic seems to have zero tolerance to the mischievous activities of secret cults.

He claimed the institution was known for its efforts to prevent oppression of students by their fellow students. He promised to protect the dignity of all students and make sure that no student is being exploited, molested or threatened by their mates. He counselled students to seek relevance through intellectual diligence, and not through violence, aggression, sexual promiscuity or bribery.

He said the polytechnic had upgraded it standard by the introduction of electronic examinations and approval of some additional National Diploma (ND) courses.
