University of Abuja Student Drags His School to Court

A student of the University of Abuja, Anthony Ejumejowo, sues his school because a lecturer of the school kept postponing the supervision of his project for the attainment of his Master’s degree.

The student alleged that a lecturer who goes by the name; Dr. Lawrence Chukwu, deliberately averted meeting with him after he submitted his project for final corrections way-back in May 2017, hence the need for the plaintiff to seek the intervention of the High Court at the Federal Capital Territory on the matter.

Ejumejowo, who is a legal practitioner, civil rights activist and a post-graduate alumna of UNIABUJA, demanded for one hundred million naira as damages for the distress he went through. Over 14 months since the conclusion of the 2015/16 academic session, the student said that the absence of the supervisor affected his legal practice (as he had to concentrate on his studies, thereby neglecting his professional practice) and the unavailability of Dr. Lawrence has literally stalled his research work which is a huge hindrance to the attainment of his Master’s degree (as he cannot progress academically until the supervisor marks his final project).

He also said that he attended all the required classes, done all the necessary assignments, presentation, paid all the stipulated fees so the actions of the defendant was a breach of the terms of the admission offered by the university.
