Why did NYSC stops posting corps members to parts of Delta State?

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) just announced it would discontinue the deployment of corps member to the Udu and Warri South-West Local Government Areas of Delta State.  This was made known to the public by Mr. Benjamin Ayodele who is the NYSC Co-ordinator of Delta State.

Ayodele explained that the reason for the termination was because the NYSC could not guarantee the safety of its members due to the continuous clash between Aladja community in Udu LGA and Ogbe-Ijoh community in Warri South West LGA over land/border dispute which has led to the destruction of lives and properties in the affected region. He later appealed to the host community to adopt a peaceful resolution to their dispute so that the school children in the region would continue to enjoy the benefits of the serving corppers.

It was reported to the Board of Governing Council of the NYSC, that properties worth millions of naira had already been razed and undisclosed number of persons has been confirmed killed while many are reported missing since the communal clash started. After much deliberation, they came to the conclusion that both communities were no longer safe for corps members.

Ayodele also announced the relocation of 10 married female corps members who rigorously made several appeals to be reunited with their families. He further explained that this was in accordance to the guiding NYSC policy, as no unmerited favours were granted.
