UNIOSUN students discharged from hospital after toxic inhalation at lectures




On Sunday January 21, 2018; the discharge of the last group of students of the Osun State University, who were hospitalised after fainting from breathe in poisonous emission from a fire extinguisher during lectures at an over crowed hall has been confirmed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Clement Adebooye, in a telephone interview with Femi Makinde of Punch newspaper. 

He attested that the students (over 20 of them) who were rushed to the ER on that fateful day were all discharged from the hospital. He assure the reporter that all the discharged student are currently in good health and have full recovered from the accident due to prompt first aid and hospitalisation of the affected student.

The accident was caused by a student who sat on the fire extinguisher (due to lack of vacant chair/sit). The safety valve was unintentionally removed when he stood up causing the extinguisher to release its content.

Some of the student who spoke on condition of animosity pleaded with the university management to provide them with well-ventilated classroom to prevent this type of incident and thanked God that no lives was lost.
