Oduduwa University founder lost his chieftaincy title over poem

Chief Ramon Adedoyin has been suspended by His Royal Highness Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over the publication of a malicious traditional poetry known as ewi, with the intension to mock the sitting Ooni (who is like the traditional king of Yorubas).

The Ooni of Ife removed the title of Maye of Ife from the proprietor of Oduduwa University and the palace chiefs said they were on course of removing the Oloyere of Oyere, Oba Adeoye Adefarakan, who they suspected of being in league with Adedoyin to smear the image of Oba Ogunwusi.

The beleaguered proprietor was conferred with the chieftaincy title by the predecessor of the current Ooni, Oba Okunade Sijuwade. In a press conference today in Ile Ife, The Royal Traditional Council said the Oloyere of Oyere, Oba Adeoye Adefarakan, was among the individuals being used by the founder of Oduduwa University to ridicule and slander the throne of Onni.

The statement of the Council was read by the Secretary to the Ife Traditional Council, Chief Adetoye Odewole.

They said after investigating the matter, they discovered that the ewi which was titled ‘Oba Awakusa was sent into Nigeria discreetly from the United Kingdom’ was sponsored by Adedoyin with the intension to challenge the legitimacy of the sitting Ooni and was distributed globally even at this very moment. Furthermore, they queried Chief Ramon Adedoyin and Oba Adeoye Adefarakan to seek forgiveness for their alleged treachery and rebellion to the ‘stool of Ooni’ and the ‘House of Oduduwa’, in order to maintain peace in the community. As at the time making this publication, there was relative peace at the Ipetumodu campus of Oduduwa Univerity, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.
