Life In Novena

Novena is one of the very few liberal private universities in Nigeria. We accommodate people from different religion (or lack of it), culture, ethnicity and race.  Indeed, the name ‘Novena’ is of catholic origin meaning ‘nine days prayers’; but for the past 10 years, we have strive to make our student comfortable in being who they are. While most private universities in Nigeria are owned by religious bodies and restrict their student's behaviour and activities, we allow adults to be adults.

Being a secular university, students are allowed to engage in social activities after school hours including things that we might categorize as vices like smoking, drinking and fornication. We like to believe that they are old enough to discern right from wrong and are responsible enough to deal with the consequences of their lifestyle. Indeed many lives have been both blessed and ruined on the campus of Novena. Being part of the security apparatus of the school, I am mandated to occasionally present to NUC a few scapegoats. This is in order to present the school with an illusion of strictness.

For example; they were some students who were expelled for possessing alcohol in their lockers. The day they were to face the disciplinary panel coincidentally fell on the social-week for the Department of Computer Science. Just six-meters from where the panel was holding, the computer science students were singing and drinking alcoholic palm-wine while inside, three of their colleagues were being scrutinised for alcohol possession. Certainly, it was their attitude when they were caught that qualified them to be a scapegoat. We have had student who committed greater offence than that and only got one semester suspension.

Novena university is ardently opposed to bullying and violent activities of cult groups. Being an avid member of a secret society, I was able to design a system where various cult groups can peacefully coexist without clashing and it has been a success four years in the making. Even the Nigerian Police Force showed their interest in this system of mine.

Our proprietor makes an average profit of $4million a year and with that type of money, the institute has been able to be debt free while having the officials of NUC in our pocket.

We are also actively engaged with law enforcement authorities. We occasionally involve the services of various news media and have been known to get a few endorsements from foreign personals as well as kind publicity and ratings.

My office is a little cubicle with a larger than life portrait of myself (to boost my ego), but from that tiny office, I control the affairs of not only students but staffs. There is no staff that doesn’t FEAR and recognise my authority in the school hence I have been dubbed ‘The Head Master of NUO’. So if you are in good terms with me, you would be able to clear your papers without hindrance. The reverse is also true; if you cross my path, I have the resources to make your time in Novena University very difficult.

I simulated it until I made it and can help you do the same. Whatever your academic goals are, we would help you attain it. Today I shake hands with high members of our society.

For example, I am among the outstanding professors of this institution because of the fact that I am a former US Marine. Most of them hold me in high esteem because my PhD was obtained from a foreign school. What eludes their reasoning, is the fact that it was gotten from an online correspondent course which is not recognised in Nigeria, yet I still unapologetically retain the title and respect of a professor. In Novena University Ogume, we teach even the most stubborn and dull student how to defend their result with confidence and audacity.

We guarantee you would graduate, just as long as you do not owe the school any fees or payment.
