Department of Economics

The first degree programme in Economics is a rigorous and demanding endeavour. This programme is designed to provide both academic and professional knowledge and development for our students so that they can assume managerial responsibilities in the public and private sectors of the economy.




Objectives


1. To inculcate in the students a deep understanding and deep appreciation of the fundamentals and theories in the Economics discipline.


2. To imbibe in the students strong technical and analytical tools for research and policy work in public and private sectors.


3. To prepare students for rigorous post-graduate and academic pursuits in all areas of the economics discipline.


4. To prepare students for decision making challenges as professional economists in the industries and professional careers


To provide adequate and technical preparation in professional pursuits and careers in other related fields such as Accounting, Marketing, Finance and Commerce.
